Rafael Urbina-Quintero is the chairman and CEO of Batanga Media. Since August 1999, Rafael has been the driving force behind the company’s strategic planning, business and product development as well as revenue generation. In his capacity as chairman and CEO, Urbina-Quintero successfully completed a series of acquisitions and successfully negotiated multiple rounds of funding for the company. The result has been tremendous and continuous company growth within the Hispanic online market. In 2009, he led the launch of Batanga Network, a groundbreaking Hispanic-focused ad network, and in 2011 expanded the company into Mexico and Latin America with the acquisition and integration of two leading Latin American media companies. Overseeing companies in Europe, Latin America and the U.S., Rafael has extensive entrepreneurial and media experience with a focus on content, licensing and distribution as well as technology applied to media on a global scale.
Chief Financial Officer
Manny Borges serves as Batanga Media’s Chief Financial Officer overseeing all financial operations including accounting, finance, and tax areas. Borges works closely with the management team to establish the company’s financial objectives and strategies. Borges brings over 15 years of finance experience gained in the private and public sector. Previously, Borges was Vice President of Finance and Chief Accounting Officer for Radio Unica Communications Corporation, a premier Spanish language radio network consisting of fifteen owned and operated radio stations located in the largest Hispanic markets throughout the United States. At Radio Unica, Borges was responsible for the financial operation of the fifteen stations as well as Radio Unica’s network. Borges was also responsible for all SEC filings and external financial reporting as well as investor relations. Most recently, Borges served as Chief Financial Officer of Related International, a division of The Related Group. At Related International, Borges was primarily accountable for securing project debt and/or equity financing for Related’s international projects. Borges started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Miami office, leaving PWC as a manager in the audit practice. Borges received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting from Florida International University in Miami, Florida.
Chief solutions officer
Carlos is the Chief Solutions Officer, responsible for overseeing the company’s advertising solutions, technology, development and implementation. Key areas include strategy, online product development and operating efficiencies. Luchsinger has more than 15 years of experience in technology and new media. Prior to the merger of Planeta and Batanga, Luchsinger served as Planeta’s Vice President of Operations, starting in 2000. Previously, Luchsinger worked for several interactive marketing companies based in Miami, including IATM and Touch Miami, where he was Vice President of Operations. Luchsinger holds a System Engineer degree from Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas, Venezuela.
CHIEF REVENUE OFFICER
As CRO, Alexandre Jordao is responsible for the company’s revenue generation, playing a pivotal role in driving faster revenue growth. Previously, Jordao was Vice President of Sales for Latin America and Brazil at Batanga Media. Jordao brings more than twenty years of experience to the CRO role, most of it focused on managing digital sales, business development, and advertising across Latin America for companies such as Microsoft and Grey Group. Alexandre was also an angel investor in seed stage companies, been a member of advisory board from Hunt Mobile Ads, the Mobile Ad Network leader in Latam and Pivot, a very successful production house in Brazil.
CHIEF PRODUCT OFFICER
As Chief Product Officer, Santiago oversees the company’s content products. Santiago is responsible for product development and content strategy, leading a team of developers, editors, designers and social media managers. Santiago is the founder of iMujer.com, and under his direction, it along with BolsadeMulher.com and Batanga.com, have become three of the most popular lifestyle and entertainment digital properties in the region. Previously, Santiago was the CEO and founder of Crovat, where he developed one of the largest entertainment online networks in Latin America.
Vice president of global marketing
Natalia Borges is Vice President of Global Marketing for Batanga Media, leading all integrated sales marketing strategies and efforts. Additionally, Borges manages all company communications efforts including public relations, advertising and customer relations. Borges has over sixteen years of invaluable advertising and marketing experience with industry leaders Crispin Porter + Bogusky (CP+B) and Zubi Advertising. A graduate of Florida International University, Borges holds a bachelor degree in Communications.
VICE PRESIDENT OF BRANDED CONTENT
As Vice President of Branded Content for Batanga Media, Rafael leads all of the production and development efforts generating original branded content for advertisers and marketers. Prior to Batanga Media, Rafael held various leadership positions during a 10-year tenure with Cisneros Group, expanding digital content distribution with important video partners such as YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, Univision and MSN. Previous to Cisneros, Rafael also held executive positions at AOL, Diario El Universal and Quepasa.com. Rafael is a member of the Advisory Board for Entertainment Business programs at Full Sail University.
